Happy Monday!

I was overjoyed and ecstatic to meet so many of you at Open House and can’t wait for your kids to begin in my classroom tomorrow! I am looking forward to getting to know your child, helping them learn and to love school, and collaborating with you so that we can support your student’s education in the most effective way!

I am looking forward to seeing their All About Me Bags tomorrow! If you did not receive a bag, just have your student pack up 4 things so that we can learn about them!

If you weren’t able to attend Open House, or forgot to pick up my Parent Letter here is some helpful hints that I think will make the start of the school year go smoothly!

SNACKS, WATER & LUNCH: Students should bring a reusable water bottle, healthy lunch and snacks. We will have an AM snack, PM snack, and lunch at 11:30am. We are a NO SUGAR and NO NUT school (including: peanut butter, Nutella, trail mix or granola bars with almonds or peanuts…). There is no microwave for student use and please have students bring their own utensils with them. We do have a hot lunch option for purchase. Please see Mrs. Laramie’s emails for a link.

PE & Specials: PE starts tomorrow. Students must participate in closed-toe shoes.

TOYS, BLANKETS, FIDGETS & STUFFIES: Please refrain from allowing your student to bring any to class as it can be a distraction from work unless already talked about. There will be special days when the kids can bring them. I will always let you know in advance.

FIELD TRIPS: We will be going on two Field Trips this year. If you want to chaperone (or volunteer in the classroom), you MUST get your fingerprint clearance card prior. They take weeks to come in, so please plan ahead. Visit https://www.azdps.gov/services/public/fingerprint

BIRTHDAYS: We love celebrating birthdays, but do not allow sweets (cupcakes, donuts, cookies…) or balloons. Small prize-like toys are great, like: fruit snacks, goldfish, stickers…

HOMEWORK: We encourage all of our students to read for at least 20 minutes every night. I will also be assigning homework (including: fun ELA & math games) on their Google Classroom (more information to follow).

HEADPHONES: If you have not yet dropped off supplies, please make sure that your student has headphones. We will be using a Keyboarding Without Tears curriculum on the computers, where they will need headphones to participate.

Also, please let me know if you are interested in volunteering for our Junior Achievement program! I am looking for 1 or 2 volunteers! The time commitment includes one observation visit and presenting five to six interactive sessions! Each session takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes and are hands-on experiences designed to be led by a volunteer!

Our JA Training Dates are:

Tuesday, August 8th 3:45-4:45 (Virtual)

Tuesday, August 15 3:45-4:45 (On Campus)

Again, I am so excited to get to know your sweet child! Thank you for entrusting me with your child! I am very much looking forward to an amazing 1st week! Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions that you may have!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sibley
