Happy Thursday & Happy Almost Weekend!!

New Information:

  • Shoe Fundraiser: It continues to May 19th. Bring in those old (in good condition) shoes. We were winning last time I checked for a pizza party. I wanted to give a shout out to one of my students. They posted it on a Facebook page and has brought in so many extra pairs of shoes. They also took a wagon around their neighborhood and asked neighbors.
  • Half Day of School – Friday, May 5th with dismissal beginning at 11am
  • MAP Testing Begins Next Week.
    • Tentative Schedule:
      • Wednesday, 3rd & Thursday, 4th: Reading at 8:35am
      • Wednesday, 10th & Thursday, 11th: Math at 8:35am
        • Please have them get a good night’s rest & eat a healthy breakfast as they will be starting with the test in the morning.
        • I will be reminding my students as well, but please remind them to TRY THEIR BEST! 😊

This Week:

  • We:
    • began our new literature unit and talked about myths about flowers
      • we learned about the Greek mythology of starry asters and olive trees that would never die
    • finished our math unit about graphs in relation to: bar graphs, line plots, and picture graphs
    • began our new lesson into 2D shapes and angles (triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons…)
      • some students are still working on their multiplication & division skills, as well as working through more complex word problems
    • met an author today who read us a story! Her name is Madi Brown, a college student at ASU. She wrote a story called “Willow’s Green Dream.” It is a story about sustainability and taking care of our planet.

  • Spelling Words: way, away, root, balloon, play, display, reach, enjoy, explain, meadow, little, middle, complete, enough, river

School Information:

  • Please remind your students to check the Lost and Found. All remaining Recker campus Lost and Found items will be donated to GoodWill every Wednesday.
