Weekly Newsletter – 8/12/2022
Happy Friday!
We have completed MAP testing and are moving quickly through curriculum! They are working hard and trying harder! We are currently working on transitions so that we can get a lot done in the day, as well as staying on task! 🙂
This Week:
- We:
- Learned about habitats and went on a virtual field trip to learn more about big horn sheep
- Worked on Week 2 in our ELA curriculum and read non-fiction stories about how people around the world are the same and different (in terms of: housing, food, language…)
- Continued with Unit 1 of our Math curriculum and worked through our single addition/subtraction math facts
Next Week:
- Our spelling words:
- grass, trips, crack, still, west, mask, clap, plans, milk, belt, fog, tub, by, he, she
- We will be having a review test on Friday. These are practice tests as they will be opening up the test and reviewing their missed words, but any support you can give them at home is huge. 🙂
- grass, trips, crack, still, west, mask, clap, plans, milk, belt, fog, tub, by, he, she
Information from past newsletters:
- HOMEWORK: We encourage all of our students to read for at least 20 minutes every night. I will also be assigning work that they can do at home (including: fun ELA & math games) on their Google Classroom. This is not required homework and can be worked on throughout the year. It is just additional practice and hopefully they will have some fun with the games. There is also a fun FREE math game called Prodigy that my students LOVED last year.
- POKEMON CARDS, TOYS, BLANKETS, FIDGETS & STUFFIES: Please refrain from allowing your student to bring any in as it can be a distraction from work. They have also become a problem in class. There will be special days when the kids can bring them. I will always let you know!
- SNACKS, WATER & LUNCH: Students should bring a reusable water bottle, healthy lunch and snacks. We will have a PM snack and lunch at 11am. We are a NO SUGAR and NO NUT school (including: peanut butter, Nutella, trail mix or granola bars with almonds or peanuts…). We do have a hot lunch option. Please see Mrs. Laramie’s emails for a link. Please note that there are no microwaves available for student use. Lastly, students must bring any utensils that they may need.
- FIELD TRIPS: We will be going on two Field Trips this year. If you want to chaperone (OR VOLUNTEER IN THE CLASSROOM), you MUST get your fingerprint clearance card prior. They take weeks to come in, so please plan ahead.
- BIRTHDAYS: We love celebrating birthdays, but do not allow sweets (cupcakes, donuts, cookies…) or balloons. Small prize-like toys are great or fruit snacks, goldfish…
I am very much looking forward to another wonderful week! Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions that you may have!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sibley
