Mrs. Sibley’s Weekly Email – 8/19/2021
Happy Thursday, Families!
It has been another busy week in 2nd grade!
*Every Friday, we will be sending home a green folder with your student. Please go through these with your students as I try to make notes. In the folder there is work that they should keep at home, as well as any work that needs to be brought back (if needed).*
Some of the highlights were:
- We have continued our famous people study and have talked about: Eugenie Clark Dove (shark conservationist scientist).
- We are continuing our science study about plants, where we have been talking about how plants/trees/flowers survive in different areas.
- This week’s ELA topic has been about friendship and how/why do we depend on our friends.
- We are still reading some awesome books with positive messages to be unique, brave, and kind, including: It’s Okay to be Different.
- Please talk about filling buckets at home as it is something we talk about at every morning meeting. Based on the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today, nice words, kind gestures, and being helpful can all fill someone’s bucket, but mean words can empty someone’s bucket. A full bucket can lead to a happy kid, while an empty bucket can lead to feelings of being sad, frustrated, or angry. Hopefully they are cleaning at home as much as they say they are. 😊
Next week:
- We will begin having a Star Student of the Week. Please check your email for any updates on this!
