Mrs. Sibley’s Weekly Newsletter – 10/14/2021
Happy Thursday, Families!
It was so nice to meet so many of you during conferences in the beginning of the week! I am looking forward to another quarter and working with your students on all of the new information coming up! Also, we had a great day today at Schnepf Farms! Some of the highlights were: pillow jumping thing, picking pumpkins, rollercoaster riding, pig races, petting the animals…
Next Week’s Curriculum:
We are continuing our new topic into Fables (made up stories that teaches a lesson or moral). Our essential questions is: what can animals in stories teach us? We will also be learning about suffixes (-ful & -less), irregular plural nouns (child to children), and quotation marks for dialogue.
Spelling words: chop, catch, shape, trash, phone, that, sting, thin, bring, while, place, badge, seven, isn’t, early – they will be practicing these words with me at teacher’s table and will be seeing these words on the worksheets as well.
We are continuing our learning on addition with two digits up to 100.

Yellow Notebooks (Agendas):
Ask your student about their yellow notebooks at night! They are writing 2 things in there that they have learned throughout the day, grammar sentences in the morning, and writing prompts. Feel free to add any notes to support your student as well! This is just a great way for you to connect with what your student is learning!
Green Folders:
These will begin going home every day as it will have their homework for the night. They will be expected to bring their folder every morning and turn in their homework daily. Homework levels were determined at conferences.
Scholastic LiteracyPro:
I am so excited to share that your students now have access to Scholastic Literacy Pro. Here they will be able to receive personalized book recommendations based on their interest and reading level. We will talk about the homework levels at the upcoming conference, but part of every homework level is reading for 30 minutes a night. On this site, it will track: what they are reading, how long they are reading, provide reading comprehension questions, and track their reading level progress. It can be so beneficial to a parent, as well as the teacher. 😊
