Happy Thursday, Families!

It was a busy week in 2nd grade! We have been busy this week continuing our focus on getting quicker with double digit subtraction, as well as finishing up our MAP testing! Today, we had art masterpiece and read a few books by Lois Ehlert and we talked about her impact on children’s literature (Chicka Chicka Boom Boom). The book that they focused on in art was Snowballs. In Literature, we read books about the sky… what do we see in the sky during the day and at night? We spoke about constellations, stars, the sun & moon. We also began learning about holidays & traditions around the world. Currently, we have learned about Israel / Hanukkah and India / Diwali. We drew menorahs and diyas and learned about some celebrations/food that are traditional in these cultures.

Next Week’s Curriculum:

We will be reviewing grammar that we have learned so far: conjunctions, dialogue – quotation marks, compound words, lists – commas, past tense…

We will also be doing some fun projects to review math, as well as look at other holidays around the world! 🙂
