Mrs. Sibley’s Weekly Newsletter – 2/2/22

Happy Wednesday and Happy Groundhog Day!

Today we learned about Groundhog Day and made our own predictions about the shadow! We have been busy this week learning place value with numbers up to 1,000, as well as reviewing our double digit addition so that we can move into three digit addition! This week in ELA, we continued reading stories about how the world around us changes! The focus this week was about wild fires! Our continued goal for next week is to work on staying on task so that we can get through a lot this quarter! 🙂

• Our upcoming field trip is on Friday, March 11th (the Friday before break) to the Arizona Science Center. They will require masks. Payment is due February 18, 2022! https://yqysjrrxph.formstack.com/forms/arizona_science_center_2nd_grade
• Gifted testing on on 2/15 @ 11:45am and 2/17 @ 1:30pm

Next Week’s Curriculum:

We will be continuing with Unit 4 of our Wonders Curriculum. Week 5 & 6 will be about poetry and what excites us about nature! We will be learning how to combine two sentences.

Spelling words: dare, stare, fare, hair, pair, chair, bear, pear, where, there, dear, cheers, knew, never, talk

Also, we will continue our unit about learning numbers to 1,000 next week!

Classroom Volunteers: Please email me if you would like to volunteer in the classroom. We could always use help with leading a reading group. 🙂

We need a new Art Masterpiece Volunteer to do once a month art. 🙂 Please let me know if you are able to do this.
