Sibley’s Super Stars – Weekly Newsletter 11/21/2023
Happy Tuesday!
I was overjoyed and ecstatic to have your students in class this week!
New Information:
- MAP TESTING: We will begin MAP testing next week. These students have been working so hard these past 75 days of them and I am so PROUD of them.
- Reading: Thursday, 11/30 and Friday, 12/1 at 8:35am
- Math: Wednesday, 12/6 and Thursday, 12/7 at 8:35am
- This test is used to collect data on the students so that we can differentiate instruction. These scores grow with them at STCS and can help us see the growth that the student is making.
- In 2nd grade, the test NO longer reads to them. This is a big change from kindergarten and first grade so please remind your student.
- Please have them get a good night’s rest & eat a healthy breakfast as they will be starting with the test in the morning.
- I will be reminding my students as well, but please remind them to TRY THEIR BEST! 😊
- DECEMBER CONFERENCES: Sign up here for Q2 Parent Teacher Conferences. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4FA8AE22A5FBC07-2ndquarter#/
This Week:
- We:
- talked about what we can see in the sky in English and read some great books about the nighttime sky.
- continued working in our Math workbook and learning about word problems and how to decipher if they asking us to add or subtract.
- in Art Masterpiece, they worked on their thankful turkeys that will be displayed during Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
- in Junior Achievement, they learned about making choices. We got to do an activity, where the students got to act like a mayor and make hard decisions for the town that they govern.
Next Week:
- Spelling Words: we, bee, need, queen, mean, leaf, thief, chief, pony, keys, grow, toe, after, every, special
School Information:
- CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING: Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is on tomorrow, Wednesday, November 22nd from 11:00am-12:30pm. Occurring the day before Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is a tradition at San Tan Charter! Dr. and Mrs. Sippel began this tradition in the first Montessori Preschool class with bean soup. The tradition continues for families by bringing their own lunch and eating it picnic style outside as a community and bringing desserts to share. We will open the front doors starting at 11:00am. There is NO drive lane this day and parents will pick up their student from the class.
- WINTER MUSIC CONCERT: The Winter Music Concert is on December 5th at the Recker Campus Gym. Students will need to be dropped off at 4:30pm and the concert will start at 5pm. There is no teacher before 4:30pm to drop off the student. They will be performing the 70’s decade with Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia. Ms. Cabrera is requesting that ladies wear: flowy pants (like bell bottoms), a 70s style top, and poofy big hair. She is requesting that the gentlemen wear: tight disco pants, a black top, and hair sleeked back.

- SPELLING BEE: Recker will be hosting it’s annual Spelling Bee on Friday, January 5th. Mrs. Sibley’s class will be hosting our own Spelling Bee on Tuesday, November 28th. The winner will be participating in the Recker Spelling Bee against the other classes. Participation is not mandatory, but I will provide spelling lists so that they can practice at home.
- Please remind your students to check the Lost and Found. All remaining Recker campus Lost and Found items will be donated to GoodWill every week.
I am very much looking forward to another wonderful week! Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions that you may have!
