New Information:

  • Gifted testing is coming up. All 2nd grade students participate in this test! 🙂

  • Valentine’s Day: It’s almost time to celebrate our Valentines (FRIENDS)! Second grade will be celebrating in our classrooms on February 14th by sharing Valentines and some fun activities during our normal school day. If your student would like to make Valentines for their classmates, they are welcome to, as long as one is made for each student in their classroom. A class list is attached. Valentine boxes or bags (to collect their Valentines) must be decorated at home and brought in for that day. If anyone is in need of bags or Valentine’s cards, please let me know. Please note our NO SWEETS and NO NUTS policy. Stickers are an amazing alternative! Also, let me know if you want to bring in a HEALTHY snack for your student to share. 🙂

This Week:

  • We:
    • continued reading poems about nature this week and talked about how nature is wonderful.
    • we will began our lesson in triple digit subtraction with regrouping.
    • worked on expository writing and learned about pandas, giraffes, and dolphins. They were expected to write a full paragraph (at least 5 sentences: introduction sentence, 3 facts, and a closing sentence).
    • talked about being bucket fillers
    • continued our chapter book: Freddie’s Amazing Bakery. 🙂 It is fun to see them ask for another chapter, because they want to know what happens next!
