Happy Friday!

I was overjoyed and ecstatic to have your students in class this week! It has been so nice getting to know them more!

New Information:

  • HOMEWORK: We encourage all of our students to read for at least 20 minutes every night. I will also be assigning homework (including: fun ELA & math games) on their Google Classroom. This has been set up for all students. I will send out information on how to sign in. There is also a fun FREE math game called Prodigy that my students LOVED last year.
  • POKEMON CARDS: From this point on, we are strongly encouraging that Pokemon cards be left at home. They have become a problem and distraction in the class. I truly appreciate your support on this.

This Week:

  • We:
    • We learned about categorizing animals in science
    • Began our English curriculum and are starting to talk about how families are the same and different around the world
    • Began reviewing our math facts – single addition math facts before we go into double digit addition

Next Week:

  • Our spelling words:
    • went, tell, pet, job, fog, not, tug, hut, tub, bun, fix, has, one, or, see
      • We will be having a review test on Friday. These are practice tests as they will be opening up the test and reviewing their missed words, but any support you can give them at home is huge. 🙂

If you weren’t able to attend Open House or forgot to pick up my Parent Letter here is some helpful hints that I think will make the start of the school year go smoothly.

  • SNACKS, WATER & LUNCH: Students should bring a reusable water bottle, healthy lunch and snacks. We will have a PM snack and lunch at 11am. We are a NO SUGAR and NO NUT school (including: peanut butter, Nutella, trail mix or granola bars with almonds or peanuts…). We do have a hot lunch option. Please see Mrs. Laramie’s emails for a link. Please note that there are no microwaves available for student use. Lastly, students must bring any utensils that they may need.
  • TOYS, BLANKETS, FIDGETS & STUFFIES: Please refrain from allowing your student to bring any in as it can be a distraction from work. There will be special days when the kids can bring them. I will always let you know!
  • FIELD TRIPS: We will be going on two Field Trips this year. If you want to chaperone (OR VOLUNTEER IN THE CLASSROOM), you MUST get your fingerprint clearance card prior. They take weeks to come in, so please plan ahead.
  • BIRTHDAYS: We love celebrating birthdays, but do not allow sweets (cupcakes, donuts, cookies…) or balloons. Small prize-like toys are great or fruit snacks, goldfish…

I am very much looking forward to another wonderful week! Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions that you may have!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sibley
